We have had great success tuning the new VE 270kw engine and the 307/317kw HSV's. A couple of years ago we started tuning a blue VE SSV with an A6 gearbox which still holds the honour of the fastest time in the world in a NA VE Commodore while retaining the stock 6L80e auto box and converter. Since then we have tuned around 100 VE Commodores.

In factory supplied unmodified VE 6L or 6.2L that we have done the usuall result is very positive. They improve in throttle response and have increased torque right through the rpm range. The extra torque below 2000rpm usually gives the car a boost in fuel economy as well. Cars with 6spd autos can gain even further with improved shifting and better behaviour from the gearbox overall. The Basic 6L & 6.2L tune costs $500 or if the auto box is done its $650.  The gain in power is often a question asked, its usually around 20rwkw or close to 30 engine kw. We often see VE 6L and VZ L76 6L engines make around 260rwkw (325 engine kw), recently we saw a  VE L98 make 286rwkw with from a mafless tune with minimal mods - it was just equipped with extractors and over radiator intake. It still retained its original cam and catback exhaust.

We also have some nice exhaust systems, over radiator intakes, clutches on offer that are installed by WCC Performance at very competitive prices. Below are some experiences we have had with modified VE's.

in 2007 a Blue VE owned at the time by Paul Jarman  had a 224 228 114 cam and some imported CNC Ported L92 heads, full exhaust system and an over radiator intake . It made 326 rear wheel kw (400 engine kw) and backed it up by being the 1st Naturally Aspirated A6 Commodore to run into the 11s bracket in the world. Its best is run was 11.867/118.7mph at WSID and this was done with the car still retaining all seats & full exhaust. We just changed the wheels and took the out the air filter, spare and jack. The car did during its 11.8 run 0-100kph in less than 4.0s and 160kph in less than 9s.

We have seen numerous VE Commodores and HSVs recently make over 300rwkw. We have even seen as much as 320rwkw from our most common cam the  220 220 112 & 336 rwkw from my new favorite the Stealth II while it idles at 650rpm. These cams can be tuned to idle at 650-700rpm or roughened up for people wanting that. It can get great economy because it pulls smoothly and strongly from 1000rpm to 7000rpm.

All of the work done can be arrange by Oztrack Tuning in co-operation with WCC Performance. We have a wide range of modification packages that we can believe in and strongly recommend. We can supply and install highly recommended choices in exhaust systems, intakes, manifolds, cams , heads, blowers, turbo systems  etc.

Recently we have done a few VE Commodores with Forced Induction and we have some great combinations we install. Its quite easy to gain near 400 rear wheel kw in an A6 and still retain nice driveability and road manners. A VE 6L twin turbo that we did has been able to make 440rwkw and can still travel on trips in the mid8L/100km range.

A good recommendation is to install a small torque cam We offer one cam we have called the Oztrack Gen IV Torque Cam. This package gives incredible torque from 800rpm and it is far superior to anything else naturally aspirated that we have tested between 800rpm and 3000rpm. Its close to Supercharged Cars even when at around 2000rpm! The good news is that this cam can give touring fuel economy around 1.0L/100km better than stock and has far superior street power. The kind of power you would notice everytime you press the accelerator even a small amount. It idles so close to stock in most cars you cant tell the cam has been swapped.

We also have developed another cam called the Oztrack Stealth Cam II, this cam is able to mix it at high revs with cams that are far worst behaved at idle eg 224 228 112 , yet the cam idles with a small amount of lope only.If the car has a quiet exhaust it is almost not detectable. This cam is able to pull down low not far at all away from the Oztrack Gen IV Torque Cam yet it will be far stronger above 5000rpm.

Gen IV Torque Cam packages for VE 6L and 6.2L are about $2700 inc single springs, the Gen IV Torque Cam, Moly pushrods, Fully Tuned on the dyno and Installed.

Stealth Cam (and all other cam profile) packages are about $2900 including the custom grind Comp Cam, Double Valve springs and Moly Pushrods, Fully Tuned on the Dyno and Installed.
